Casting directors for the HBO syndicated series "Treme" are conducting an open casting call on November 7, 2009. They are seeking local talent to work as background extras, stand-ins, and possible day-player speaking roles. David Simon co-created the project with longtime New Orleans resident Eric Overmyer, after the two former "Homicide" writers had discussed doing a show set in the Big Easy for years.

The producers of a new HBO series titled "Meet Phil Fitz" are holding an open casting call for background extras in Nova Scotia, Canada. All ages and types are needed. Both ACTRA and non-union people are being considered. In addition, due to the number of workers (actors, film crew, and so on) who will be converging on the area, MPF Productions is looking for rented rooms and apartments for them to live while the shooting is going on.
